Photographer & Videographer Portfolio Website (Germany)
Project Goal:
I created this website to professionally showcase my work as a freelance photographer and videographer in Germany. The main goal was to deliver a clean, visual, and easy-to-navigate experience that reflects my style and allows potential clients to explore my work and contact me easily.
UX/UI Design, Visual Content, SEO, Color Scheme, Text Adjustments, Cookie Banner, GDPR & Imprint
UX Approach & Structure:
- A hero section with clear branding and service offering (photography + videography)
- A portfolio section divided by service type (events, corporate, family, etc.)
- Clear contact section and CTA (Call to Action) repeated across the page
- A lightweight navigation menu and responsive layout for all screen sizes
UI Design Choices:
- A neutral color palette to keep the focus on the visuals
- Clean, modern typography for better readability
- Minimalist layout with strong use of negative space
- Large, high-quality image galleries with smooth scrolling experience
- Contact info always accessible - essential for conversions
Tools & Platform Used:
- WordPress (hosted via 1&1 IONOS)
- Visual editor (Elementor or WordPress Classic Editor)
- Mobile responsiveness built-in
- Basic SEO setup and load speed optimization

I conducted informal usability testing with several real users (clients and friends). I collected feedback on structure, loading speed, and clarity. Based on the input, I adjusted the order of sections and simplified the contact experience.
What I Learned:
- The importance of combining visual impact with functional navigation
- How layout decisions directly affect user engagement and time spent on page
- That a minimal UI and clean structure can significantly enhance trust and clarity
- What to improve next: I plan to add testimonials, a blog section, and a clearer brand voice
